South Luangwa Premium Walking Safari
The birthplace of the walking safari β Africa's most authentic and exhilarating bush experience

Tour Overview
South Luangwa invented the walking safari. In the 1950s, legendary guide Norman Carr pioneered the concept of exploring the African bush on foot β and Luangwa remains the world capital of this purest form of safari. This 7-day immersion takes you deep into the valley on foot β walking 3β4 hours each morning through riverine forest and open floodplains. Your armed guide (Zambian guides are the most highly trained in Africa) reads the bush like a book β interpreting tracks, identifying alarm calls, and positioning you for extraordinary close encounters. South Luangwa is home to enormous herds of buffalo, prowling leopards (it rivals Sabi Sands for density), wild dogs, hippo-filled lagoons, and one of Africa's largest elephant populations. The Luangwa River creates a lifeline that draws extraordinary wildlife concentrations. Stay at legendary camps like Chinzombo, Mfuwe Lodge, and Flatdogs β where elephants walk through the lobby and leopards hunt in the car park.
