Bisate Lodge

Bisate Lodge is one of Africa's most architecturally celebrated safari properties — six sculptural thatched villas that rise like beehives from the slopes of an extinct volcanic cone, in the eroded amphitheatre of an ancient crater. Each villa frames panoramic views of three of the five Virunga volcanoes where mountain gorillas live.

The lodge is the gateway to gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park — Rwanda's 160km² rainforest sanctuary that protects nearly half the world's remaining 1,063 mountain gorillas. Bisate is also Rwanda's most ambitious reforestation project, with 100,000+ indigenous trees planted by guests since 2017.
