Makgadikgadi Salt Pans — Meerkats & Moonscapes

The Makgadikgadi Salt Pans are one of Africa's most surreal landscapes — vast white expanses stretching to the horizon, creating an otherworldly moonscape that seems to belong on another planet.

The highlight is meeting habituated meerkats at Jack's Camp — these charismatic creatures have been studied for decades and will climb onto your lap as they use you as a lookout post. At night, the pans transform into the darkest skies in southern Africa — the Milky Way blazes overhead in breathtaking clarity.

During the wet season (Dec–Apr), the pans become Africa's second-largest zebra migration, with 25,000 zebras and wildebeest crossing the grasslands.
