Gansbaai, just 2 hours from Cape Town, is the great white shark capital of the world. The nutrient-rich waters where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet attract these magnificent apex predators year-round.
Your adventure begins with a boat trip to Shark Alley — a channel between Dyer Island and Geyser Rock where seals (and therefore sharks) congregate in huge numbers. The crew uses eco-friendly chum to attract sharks to the surface, and within minutes, the unmistakable dorsal fin appears.
Then it's your turn to enter the cage. Submerged waist-deep in the water, you'll watch in awe as 3-5 metre great whites glide past just inches from the bars.
