Tswalu Kalahari Reserve
Africa's Largest Private Game Reserve
About Tswalu Kalahari Reserve
Tswalu Kalahari Reserve is where Africa reveals its most ancient, untouched soul. Spanning 114,000 hectares of rolling red Kalahari dunes, this is South Africa's largest private game reserve — bigger than some countries and home to just two intimate lodges accommodating a maximum of 29 guests.
Owned by the Oppenheimer family, Tswalu is a conservation masterpiece. Rare and endangered species thrive here: desert black rhino, pangolin, aardvark, brown hyena, bat-eared fox, and the endemic black-maned Kalahari lion. The reserve has one of the highest pangolin sighting rates in Africa.
Every experience is private — no set schedules, no other vehicles, no shared game drives. Your dedicated guide and tracker design each day around your interests, from tracking the elusive pangolin at dawn to stargazing from the Malori sleep-out deck under the clearest skies in southern Africa.
