10 days walking with the last mountain gorillas on Earth — face-to-face encounters in Uganda's Bwindi Forest and Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park.
There are fewer than 1,100 mountain gorillas left on Earth, and this 10-day journey takes you to the two best places to see them. Begin in Uganda at Murchison Falls — the Nile's most powerful waterfall — where you'll spot lions, giraffes, and hippos. Then venture into the mist-shrouded Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for your first gorilla trek. Hike through bamboo and tropical forest until you find a habituated gorilla family — then spend a magical hour sitting just metres from a 200kg silverback. Cross into Rwanda and trek in the Volcanoes National Park, where Dian Fossey conducted her legendary research. Add golden monkey tracking and a chimpanzee walk for the ultimate primate experience. This is the most life-changing wildlife encounter on the planet.

That said, the green season (November–March) offers lush landscapes, fewer crowds, and lower prices — a great option for photographers.
