Giant Sable Antelope Expedition
Track the world's rarest antelope — Angola's majestic palanca negra
About This Tour
The giant sable antelope (Hippotragus niger variani) is Angola's national symbol and one of the world's rarest large mammals. With sweeping curved horns reaching up to 1.5 metres, the "palanca negra" is arguably Africa's most magnificent antelope — and it exists nowhere else on Earth.
This exclusive expedition travels to Cangandala National Park in Malanje Province, where a small but growing population of giant sable is carefully protected. Working with local conservationists and rangers, you'll track these elusive animals through miombo woodland. This is a once-in-a-lifetime wildlife encounter for the truly intrepid.
