Hermanus Whale Watching Day Trip
The World's Best Land-Based Whale Watching
About This Tour
Hermanus, a charming coastal town approximately 120km from Cape Town, is internationally renowned for offering the best land-based whale watching in the world. Between June and November, Southern Right Whales migrate to Walker Bay to mate and calve, often coming within metres of the shore.
The journey to Hermanus is an experience in itself — we take the scenic coastal road via Gordon's Bay and Clarence Drive, one of the most beautiful coastal drives on the planet. Along the way, you may spot dolphins, seals, and seabirds.
In Hermanus, you'll walk the famous cliff path — a 12km trail along the coast that offers elevated vantage points for whale viewing. The town also has a unique 'whale crier' who blows a kelp horn to announce whale sightings. An optional boat-based whale watching trip gets you even closer to these gentle giants.
