Amakhala Game Reserve
Conservation With Heart
About Amakhala Game Reserve
Amakhala Game Reserve is a unique conservation story — born when neighbouring sheep and cattle farmers united to restore their ancestral lands to their wild origins. Today, this 8,500-hectare wilderness conservancy is home to the Big Five, cheetah, giraffe, and an incredible diversity of antelope, with the Bushman's River providing a lifeline through the reserve.
What makes Amakhala special is its collection of owner-managed lodges, each with its own character and charm. From the elegant Bukela Game Lodge to the authentic 1920s Quatermain's Camp, every property reflects the passion of the families who built them.
The Amakhala Foundation drives meaningful community development — creating jobs, funding education, and investing in the future of the surrounding communities. When you stay at Amakhala, you're directly contributing to conservation and community upliftment.
