Lalibela Game Reserve

Lalibela Game Reserve is a 7,500-hectare wilderness sanctuary where five distinct ecosystems converge — from sweeping savannah grasslands to dense valley bushveld, creating one of the most diverse wildlife habitats in the Eastern Cape.

The reserve is renowned for its exceptional lion sightings, boasting one of the highest densities of free-roaming lions among private reserves near Port Elizabeth. Five unique lodges offer everything from the five-star luxury of Kichaka — where each suite has a heated plunge pool overlooking a waterhole — to the authentic tented experience of Tree Tops Safari Lodge.

As a pioneering rewilding project, Lalibela has successfully reintroduced all of the Big Five along with cheetah, hyena, giraffe, and over 280 bird species. With no public roads running through the reserve, guests enjoy exclusive, unhurried wildlife encounters.
