Complete 2026 Destination Guide
The Land of a Thousand Hills — Home of the Mountain Gorilla
Rwanda — the Land of a Thousand Hills — is one of Africa's most remarkable transformation stories, now a world-class destination for gorilla trekking, luxury lodges, and vibrant culture. Volcanoes National Park is the premier place on Earth to track endangered mountain gorillas (only ~1,063 remain in the wild), made famous by Dian Fossey's groundbreaking conservation work. Beyond gorillas, Rwanda offers golden monkey trekking, chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest, Big Five safaris in Akagera National Park, and the scenic beauty of Lake Kivu. Clean, safe, and welcoming, Rwanda proves that conservation and community development can go hand in hand.
