Why Visit Linyanti Wildlife Reserve?

Linyanti is Botswana's best-kept safari secret — a vast private concession bordering the Linyanti River and Chobe National Park's western boundary. With only a handful of ultra-luxury camps sharing this pristine wilderness, you'll experience some of Africa's most exclusive wildlife encounters. Massive elephant herds, Africa's healthiest wild dog population, prolific predators, and the freedom to do night drives and walking safaris make Linyanti the choice for safari connoisseurs seeking authentic, crowd-free bush experiences.

01

Ultimate Exclusivity

Only a handful of camps in the entire concession — encounter Africa's greatest wildlife with virtually no other vehicles in sight.

02

Wild Dog Hotspot

One of Africa's most reliable wild dog viewing areas. Multiple painted dog packs den and hunt in the Linyanti marshes.

03

Night Drives Permitted

Unlike Chobe National Park next door, Linyanti's private concession status allows thrilling night drives to spot leopards, aardvarks, and honey badgers.

04

Walking Safaris

Get on foot with expert guides in pristine wilderness — an authentic way to experience the African bush.

05

Massive Elephant Herds

Thousands of elephants move between Chobe and Linyanti, creating spectacular concentrations along the Linyanti River in dry season.

06

Linyanti Marshes

A permanent water source that draws incredible wildlife year-round — the Linyanti River and its surrounding marshlands are a wildlife magnet.

Frequently Asked

Linyanti Wildlife Reserve Safari — FAQ

Linyanti is accessed by light aircraft from Maun (about 45 minutes) or Kasane (about 30 minutes). Your lodge arranges the charter flight. There is no road access for self-drive visitors.

Linyanti is a private concession while Chobe is a national park. Linyanti allows night drives, walking safaris, and off-road driving — none of which are permitted in Chobe. The exclusivity means far fewer visitors and more intimate wildlife encounters.

Wild dogs are present year-round, but denning season (June–August) is peak viewing time. The packs stay near their den, making sightings more predictable and allowing incredible encounters with playful pups.

Absolutely! The classic Botswana circuit is Okavango Delta + Linyanti + Chobe. Short bush flights connect all three seamlessly. Add Victoria Falls for the complete Southern Africa experience.
